About Me

As a child I spent hours sketching and drawing the things I found around my home in the wilds of the Cumbrian fells. Once I started in full time employment I didn’t find much time to produce art, but after becoming a mam in 2010 I found more time to be creative once again.

 

Animals, birds, a beautiful landscape are all enjoyable subjects for me. I wish to create a vibrant, appealing image that will be appreciated for a long time. I find the vibrancy of a sunny day appealing and my paintings are often a little brighter than reality. I love to paint a happy image and hope this comes across in my work. Recently I have been experimenting more with mixed media and enjoy bringing new ideas to life.

 

Working from home in Dumfriesshire, where I live with my husband and teenage daughter, I sell original artwork, limited edition prints, home accessories and greeting cards online, in local shops and at art fayres. I have participated in local art exhibitions and solo exhibited twice at The Tollbooth, Kirkcudbright, The Hub at Eskdalemuir, and Welcome to Langholm, I have also produced many commissions over the last few years.

 

June 2016 I enjoyed taking part as a wild card in Sky Arts 'Landscape Artist of the Year' at Wray Castle in Cumbria. In June 2018 I was excited to be shortlisted in the national mixed media competition by Pebeo in conjunction with Hobbycraft, where I was invited to exhibited my painting 'Splashing Aboot' at The Menier Gallery, Southwark, London. I was chosen as one of five Hobbycraft regional winners from the 70 plus exhibiting artists.

In April 2022 I became the proud owner of Art Corner Gallery. A picture framing business with a small art gallery on the High Street in Langholm, Dumfriesshire. This has given me the opportunity to promote my art along side other local artists and keep the option for bespoke picture framing in the area.
